What is the procedure of ABUS Screening?

ABUS is the latest and most advanced technology to screen the women for breast cancer diagnosis.

It is a very simple process. The patient has to lie down on the examination table and lotion is applied on the breast.  Then a sheer membrane having the transducer I is strongly positioned on the breast of women. Then the scanning is performed and it takes not more than 60 seconds.

Another important thing is that ABUS screening uses sound waves instead of radiation for the creation of 3D ultrasound images of the breast tissues.

These images are then viewed by the radiologists along withthe mammogram results of the patients.The radiologists determines by studying both the reports that whether the patient should undergo the ABUS or not and that every part of breast has been scanned properly.

Regarding the pain associated with this technique, it is a pain free process. The patient may feel a little pressure when transducer is positioned on her breast.

ABUS technique is approved by the United States and Food and Drug Authority for breast screening in combination with mammography in women having dense breasts. Surgeons are also inclined towards this system adopting it for pre-operative scanning of breast to identify the exact location and size of the tumour.
